Triple Threat: 3 Colleges added to Top Notch Prospect Showcase
Ferris State University, University of Alaska Fairbanks, and Niagara University have all committed to attend the Top Notch Prospect Showcase. They join Colgate University and Arizona State University forming a large NCAA presence at the event. Unfortunately, due to coaching changes at the University of Nebraska Omaha and the University of Wisconsin, those programs will no longer be in attendance. The showcase is scheduled for May 27-30 at the Dr. Pepper StarCenter Valley Ranch in Irving, Texas.
The Ferris State Bulldogs are D-I members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) and play in Big Rapids, Michigan. The 2016 season was a memorable one for the Bulldogs as they clinched the WCHA Championship Broadmoor Trophy, the school’s first ever conference tournament title.
This will be Alaska Fairbanks (D-I) second year to attend the showcase. Also members of the WCHA, the Nanooks appeared in the 2016 playoffs and will have six vacancies on next season’s roster due to graduation.
It will be the Niagara Purple Eagles first year to be represented at Top Notch. Niagara is a member of Atlantic Hockey and found themselves just short of moving on to the quarterfinals in the 2015-16 campaign.
Ferris State, University of Alaska Fairbanks and Niagara make up eleven announced teams following: Sioux City Musketeers (USHL), USANTDP (USA Hockey), Colgate University (NCAA), Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights (NAHL), Des Moines Buccaneers (USHL), Arizona State University (NCAA), Bloomington Thunder (USHL) and Madison Capitols (USHL). Several more programs will be announced in the very near future; please continue to follow us for the most recent news.
